India’s leading product designer and an established name in the international art and design realm, Gunjan Gupta will be unveiling Craft-itecture — a series of handmade objects and artworks that breathe new life into traditional Indian crafts from across India at the sixteenth edition of India Art Fair, to be held in New Delhi.

With an 20-year-long journey in collectible design, previously exhibiting at prestigious international art galleries and design fairs, this collection builds on the legacy of ‘GG Collectibles.’ Known for its avant-garde appeal, the collection remains one of the most sought-after by world-renowned collectors and continues to grace luxury homes and museums worldwide. Gupta’s work and practice communicate her perspectives on India, exploring the complexities of its culture and questioning societal norms through collectible design objects, making them international-quality aspirational artworks deeply rooted in Indian crafts and tradition.

Her latest collection, Craft-itecture, emerges from a creative dialogue with philanthropist, businesswoman and craft connoisseur Lekha Poddar and India’s master artisans. Poddar co-founded Textile Arts of India in the 1990s to promote traditional handloom crafts and continues to support artisans through various initiatives, including her collaboration with Gunjan Gupta on Craft-itecture.

Drawing on a rich palette of materials and ancient craft techniques, the collection reimagines traditional artistry with a contemporary sensibility, transforming timeless symbols into bold, functional, 21st-century home objects. In close collaboration with artisans from various regions of India, Gupta and Poddar have combined their expertise to craft these striking pieces. Through Gupta’s signature narrative-driven approach and Poddar’s deep understanding of craft practices, these pieces challenge convention and redefine the role of craft in modern design.

Gunjan will also be speaking at the 2025 IAF Talks Program, Growing Focus, curated by independent researcher and curator Shaleen Wadhwana. She will bring her expertise and perspective to the conversations around craft in India and the way forward for local craftsmanship to remain in collaboration.
