Dhaka Makers returns this November with Crafted by Makers: The Workshop Series — a four-day creative experience celebrating the joy of hands-on making. Taking place from November 13–16, 2025 at Shala Neighbourhood Art Space, this edition shifts focus from a large-scale festival to a more intimate, skill-based program designed to bring people closer to the act of creation itself.
Following the success of Dhaka Makers 3 earlier this year, this workshop series marks the beginning of a new chapter; one that emphasizes learning, play, and mindful craftsmanship. Instead of markets and exhibitions, Crafted by Makers spotlights the power of participation. Through immersive sessions led by local artisans, facilitators, and creative educators, Dhaka Makers invites children, students, professionals, expats, hobbyists and anyone who wishes to learn a craft, to participate and discover the maker within.
What to Expect at Crafted by Makers
Each session of the series is designed around a theme to welcome different audiences and skill levels:
Maker’s Masterclass Sessions:
In-depth workshops led by skilled artisans for participants to deepen their practice of heritage crafts or to learn new, technical crafts such as Nakshi Kantha stitching, terracotta work, doll-making, etc.
Mini Makers Day (NEW!):
Fun, interactive and engaging workshops for kids and parents to explore their creativity together.
All Hands-on Craft:
Beginner-friendly sessions open to all where participants can learn to make candles, miniature models, or origami in an encouraging environment.
Why It Matters
The core philosophy of Dhaka Makers is to celebrate creativity in all forms and this series is a way of keeping the spirit of the festival alive year-round. Much smaller in scale, but just as vibrant, Crafted by Makers: The Workshop Series, is designed to encourage people to make the shift from watching to making.
Participants will receive curated workshop kits, guided handouts, and take-home creations, along with the opportunity to connect with a growing community of makers. Select facilitators from the series will also have the chance to be featured in future collaborations under Curated by Makers at Jatra, supporting local artists through retail visibility and income opportunities. Crafted by Makers is supported by Dhaka’s creative community and aims to continue the brand’s mission of fostering connection through craft, curiosity, and collaboration.
