Like a lot of moms, Angela Vondy, spent a lot of time frustrated over failed Pinterest crafts.

Sometimes there weren’t enough directions or life got in the way of the project. Other times the crafts just didn’t look like the picture, she said. The Greeley resident didn’t think about the problem again until she came across Pinspiration, a DIY craft studio, and wanted to start her own location.

“You’re able to come in and not exhaust your finances by buying all the material and not even finishing,” said Vondy, who now owns her own franchise of Pinspiration. “We’re here to help you through it from beginning to end, and we offer you inspiration to make it what you want it to be.”

The studio is located at 5665 Mcwhinney Blvd. and opened Aug. 20. Without a reservation, people can try numerous crafts, like making candles, dreamcatchers, paintings, acrylic pour art, string art, and wood cutouts. Flowers, pom poms, feathers, scrabble letters, and many other embellishments are also available at no cost to add to each project.

Vondy said people have been most excited about the Jackson Pollock inspired splatter room, including her granddaughters who adorned the walls with rainbow drips when doing their own crafts.

Along with a splatter room, Pinspiration also has a private event space for crafting that people can reserve ahead of time for special occasions and events. Vondy said she looks forward to helping people with prom proposals, anniversaries, engagements, birthday parties, and other life events through crafting.

“(We want) to make it special to that person for whatever reason they’re coming in, ‘Hey, welcome Jane and whoever, happy birthday, happy anniversary,’” Vondy said, “ Have fun celebrating and those reservations give us an opportunity to personalize it for them.”

Each craft is individually priced or can be bought for a group, ranging from around $25 for individual splatter painting to a couple hundred dollars for private events. Pinspiration also offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as snacks.

But Vondy said that at its core, the studio is a space for everyone, all ages and artistry levels, because crafts are self-guided and everyone enjoys being able to make a mess and not worry about cleaning it up.

“Getting the kids in here and letting them experience a little bit of something,” Vondy said. “Especially the splatter room, where they make a mess and leave and like, ‘wow, can you believe I just threw paint?’”
