Salvatore Mundi – Leonardo da Vinci

The most expensive painting in the world could be stored in Geneva.

The work, ‘Salavatore Mundi’ is attributed to Leonardo da Vinci and was bought at auction in 2017 for USD 450m.

It’s thought the buyer was the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.

An investigation by the BBC suggests the art work is sitting in a Free Port warehouse.

The location would be understandable. While it sits in a Free Port, it hasn’t been imported, so no tax is due.

It’s thought the prince wants to take the painting to a yet to be built museum in Riyadh. He reportedly said he wants the museum to attract tourists from all over the world and he needs an ‘anchor exhibit’.
