This eight-week class is an introduction to intaglio printmaking with a press, designed to familiarize students with a broad spectrum of techniques and materials for intaglio printmaking without acid or ferric chloride. Each class session will include a step by step instructor demo, relevant examples from historical and contemporary print artists, and time for students to develop their own work in a supported environment. Intaglio methods covered will include drypoint, silk aquatint, and collagraph. Students will have the opportunity to try out a variety of tools for mark making and building up tonality on zinc and acrylic plates, and gain experience in inking an intaglio plate and pulling prints. Beginners are welcome – no prior experience necessary!

This class will be held on Thursdays from April 11 through June 6.
