Talking Culture: Celebrating Printmaking at the Ackland Art Museum

The Ackland Art Museum hosted six color blind Triangle residents and gave them corrective glasses to celebrate its accessibility program.

Associate Curator for Contemporary Art and Special Projects at the Ackland Art Museum Lauren Turner and UNC-Chapel Hill 2024 MFA Graduates in Studio Art Mark Anthony Brown Jr. and Matthew Troyer joined 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey on Tuesday, April 16. They discussed Thursday’s Opening Reception: Selected Works by the MFA Class of 2024. Brown and Troyer discussed their work and what it means to have it shown in museums like the Ackland. After 10 months of closed doors and strictly virtual programming, on Wednesday, the Ackland Art Museum reopened to the public with newly implemented safety measures.

Three paintings valued at $12.1 million dollars have been donated to the Ackland Art Museum‘s permanent collection of post-war and contemporary art.
