Learn all about creating wonderful printed art works using recycled and found materials. Discover how a printing press works and print your own masterpieces in this fun camp!

What will you learn on this course?

On this three-day camp, children will be introduced to the wonderful world of printmaking and learn two brilliant printmaking processes, one with, and one without a print press. The tutor will introduce a range of techniques including monoprint and collagraph printing, and help participants to use these processes to create their own unique prints.

Take inspiration from MACs current exhibition Waste Age: What can design do?utilising recycled and found materials to create unique and interesting prints. There will be time for a guided visit to the exhibition during the camp.

Children on this course will have the opportunity to learn all about how a printing press works, and watch their work be printed by the course tutor.

Participants will work from images, the exhibition or use their own imagination to create their own printed masterpieces, and by the end of the day will have made up to 5 unique prints to take home.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for children aged 6 to 11 years. It is open to all ability levels and does not require any previous experience. We provide a learning support worker and all our staff our DBS checked. Parents are not expected to accompany children on the course.

The course is accessible for children of all abilities, who can participate in practical arts and crafts activities. A parent or companion may attend to assist the child if required; companions must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible.

Age ranges are set carefully to consider key age developments, materials being used and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.

Do you need to bring anything?

All course material and equipment are provided. Participants are welcome to bring along their favourite images to inspire their work.

Please note that lunch is not provided. Children will need to bring their own lunch to eat on a supervised one-hour break.
