A celebrity facial sculpting expert has revealed how you can instantly slim down and sculpt your face with a simple household item – a spoon.
The secret technique was revealed in an Instagram Reel last month by Joseph Carrillo, who has worked his magic on the faces of A-listers like Mariska Hartigay and Camille Kostek.
Carrillo, who is based in New York City, specializes in his own ‘non-invasive, non toxic face lift’ called the Sculptural Energetic Lifting Facial Method.
The method is meant to not only lift and sculpt the face, but to ‘reach deep in to the underlying facial muscles that support our face posture.’
But now, anyone can take a stab at some of his techniques with the in-depth tutorial he posted, and all you need is a spoon.
Professional facial sculptor Joseph Carrillo, who has worked his magic on the faces of A-listers like Mariska Hartigay and Camille Kostek, revealed the spoon trick in a video posted on Instagram
He’s used a spoon on his superstar clients like Camille Kostek (above), Brooks Nader, Huma Abedin, Marishka Hargitay, Alex Cooper, and Bethenny Frankel
It’s a trick that he’s even used on his superstar clients like Kostek, Brooks Nader, Huma Abedin, Marishka Hargitay, Alex Cooper, and Bethenny Frankel.
‘Start with moving the fluid from your nasal labial fold up and out,’ Carrillo began in the clip, as he moved the spoon in an upwards motion on the side of his nose, where it meets the cheek.
‘I then get the belly of the spoon and start moving it along the side of my face, so notice the bottom, the bottom of the spoon gliding long over the tops of my cheekbone, my whole cheekbone and out all the way towards the temple,’ he continued.
He showed viewers exactly what to do, as he carefully glided the spoon along the side of his cheekbones and underneath the eyes.
Next, Carrillo, who also works as a makeup artist, moved to sculpt his cheeks.
He took the spoon and moved it from his cheek all the way up to his eye area.
Then, he took the utensil near the brow bone to get to work on lifting that area of the face.
‘So I go from the side of the brow all the way to my temple, and then going higher to the top side of my brow,’ he explained.

‘The belly of the spoon is perfect to help tone and depuff,’ Carrillo told DailyMail.com, adding that he’s done the technique on Bethenny Frankel (above)
Carrillo explained that there are many benefits to facial sculpting, including being able to improve circulation
‘And then going from under the muscle of the brow lifting it up and out towards the temple,’ Carrillo continued.
The sculpting expert shared that it was important to press the spoon into the skin while you do this, but make sure not to hurt yourself.
Typically, facial sculpting is performed with a tool called a gua sha – a curved massage tool that comes from an ancient Chinese healing technique, per Healthline.
A gua sha is meant to help circulation and reduce puffiness by scraping the skin, but Carillo discovered that a spoon works just as well.
The facial sculpting expert told DailyMail.com that spoons have a great ergonomic shape to them, similar to that of a traditional gua sha tool.
Not only does the shape allow for ‘effective pressure and movement along the contours of the face,’ he said, but its smooth surface allows it to move easily over the skin and prevent irritation.
‘Spoons are common household items, making this technique more accessible for those who may not have a traditional gua sha tool,’ he divulged to DailyMail.com.
‘The belly of the spoon is perfect to help tone and depuff,’ Carrillo added.
‘Unlike regular gua sha which is flat. The spoon really hugs the contours.’
But whether it’s with a gua sha tool, a spoon, or even your hands, facial sculpting can come with a lot of benefits.
Carillo divulged to DailyMail.com that facial sculpting can improve blood circulation, reduce puffiness and drain lymphatic fluids, enhance facial contours, relieve tension and boost collagen production.

‘Facial sculpting increases blood flow to the skin, enhancing its natural glow and promoting healthier skin,’ he shared.
It’s wise to do it regularly, too.
‘Regular sculpting can help define and lift facial contours, and plump muscles giving a more youthful appearance,’ Carrillo said.
‘Facial sculpting can relieve muscle tension, reducing stress and preventing wrinkles caused by tension.’
So, the next time you’re feeling a little puffy after one too many glasses of wine, grab a spoon from your dishware drawer – you’ll be looking ageless in no time!
