The free event will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the crescent shaped beach. There will be 75 food vendors, amusement rides, activities, and a 30-minute firework show on Saturday at 9 p.m., according to the event’s website.

Adrienne Maguire, Executive Board Member of Revere Beach Partnership, said that visitors can expect, “a lot of fun.”

Ten sculptors from around the world create their sculptures ahead of the festival, from Wednesday to Saturday. Each of the sculptures use around 15 tons of sand, which is trucked in from a quarry in New Hampshire, Maguire said in a phone interview.

The competing sculptors are invited by Revere Beach Partnership, and this year come from Massachusetts, California, New Jersey, Canada, Poland, Florida, The Netherlands, and Belgium, Maguire said.

Visitors can vote for their favorite sculpture on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the event’s website.

Sculptors themselves will also judge the competition, with the first four winners receiving a monetary prize, Maguire said.

The festival is rain or shine as the sculptures will not be affected by rain, Maguire said.

“Revere Beach is an amazing beach and nowhere around do you get to see what we have,” Maguire said. “You come here and you see a sculpture that’s 15 and 20 feet tall. That’s pretty amazing.”
