APPLETON (WLUK) –The spooky tales of Edgar Allan Poe came to life on stage of the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center.

New York actor Joshua Kane presented his Edgar Allan Poe’s Tales of Terror performance to a group of Appleton North High School students Wednesday.

Leading up to seeing the performance, the art students met with Kane to learn the history of Edgar Allan Poe and gain insight into his works.

Students then took the inspiration and turned it into visual art pieces connecting live performing arts with visual arts.

The finished artwork was on display during Wednesday’s performance.

“I tour across the country performing evenings of Gothic horror and the best part of my work is the opportunity to do student matinees and residency work with the community. I do live theatre instead of film because it’s about connecting people together. We create a femoral experience in the theatre that the audience comes to share together as a community. Each one has a unique experience of the story and discussions happen afterwards and people find friendships and commonalities they never dreamed of,” Kane said.

Kane has toured across the country for more than two decades as an acclaimed solo theatre artist and storyteller.

On Thursday, Kane will be performing “A Bump in The Night – A Poetry of the Fantastic and Supernatural” for the general public at the Hearthstone Historic House Museum in Appleton. You can RSVP here.
