Pullman Yards, the historic 27-acre site reimagined as a dynamic arts and entertainment district in Atlanta’s Kirkwood neighborhood, announces a new residency program supporting artists in film, visual arts, and new media. The program builds on Pullman’s growing role as a creative hub under the leadership of co-founders Adam Rosenfelt and Maureen Meulen, veterans of the film industry and visionaries behind the site’s transformation.
“Atlanta has an incredible history of being a creative hub,” said Meulen and Rosenfelt. “We are excited to welcome artists who want to turn Pullman Yards into their next creative playground and engage with the broader Atlanta community. The site and our team are here to provide artists with the time and space to explore. We look forward to seeing what they create.”
The residency hosts one regional artist and one visiting artist from the US or abroad for six to ten weeks of immersive work. Four artists will be selected annually across two seasonal cohorts. Residents receive private housing, studio space, a $500 weekly stipend, transportation support, and professional development through mentorship and engagement with curators, collectors, and industry leaders.
Applicants must be working in film, visual arts, or new media and demonstrate a commitment to experimentation and community engagement. Each residency culminates in an open studio day to share works-in-progress with the public.
This new initiative expands Pullman’s creative offerings, joining programs like its successful culinary incubator and site-specific mural series Pieces of Pullman. It also honors the site’s storied legacy — from its 1904 origins as a manufacturing facility to its civil rights history and recent role as host of Atlanta Art Fair and a film set for major productions like The Hunger Games and Baby Driver.
Applications are reviewed by a distinguished jury of cultural leaders, including Art Paper’s Sarah Higgins, 21c Museum Hotels’ Alice Gray Stites, Atlanta-based collectors and arts patrons Hassan Smith and Kent Kelley, and filmmaker Craig Zobel.
The deadline to apply is July 31, 2025. Selected artists will be announced in September.
