Sharon Stone has been nominated for a prestigious art award after pursuing a career as a painter.
The iconic American actress, 67, has been shortlisted for The 2025 Women In Art Prize and revealed she had ‘achieved’ her dream to be ‘recognised among women artists’ after taking up painting in childhood.
She explained: ‘I learned to paint as a kid from my Aunt Vonne who had two masters degrees: English & Fine Arts.
‘Paintings are stories – especially abstract ones. I’ve entered my painting because I love women artists and my dream is to be recognised among them.’
Sharon was shortlisted amongst visually impaired Bianca Raffaella and portrait photographer Jenny Lewis.
The Basic Instinct star previously revealed that after her near-fatal brain hemorrhage in 2001 she began having visual distortions that helped unleash her artistic creativity.

She explained: ‘Since I had a stroke, I started seeing colour patterns on the wall.
‘I had to take medication to stop it, but I don’t think it ever really went away, because I still see all this extra colour everywhere.’
A Women in Art Prize exhibition will be held at York Street Gallery, London from 16 – 24 September 2025.
The winners of the 8th Women in Art Prize will be unveiled in an Awards Ceremony at the British Library, Pigott Theatre on the 17 September.
Alongside her artistic practice, she has been widely recognised for her human rights advocacy, receiving honours such as the Harvard Humanitarian Award, the Nobel Peace Summit Award, and France’s Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
Sharon turned her glittering film career into painting after turning to it as a hobby.
In March 2021, the movie star showed off progress she made on a watercolor painting she was working on after telling her Instagram followers.
She said she was giving the hobby a try on a larger scale.

And one day later, Sharon showed off the completed stunning artwork she made – revealing that she painted the impressive piece with makeup brushes.
The legendary actress called the piece Mother Earth as she thanked makeup brand Iconic London for their brushes.
The passion to paint hit her many years ago, but now the blonde bombshell has shown off her studio, which is a large room inside her Beverly Hills mansion.
The stunning artwork featured a sky detail with rolling hills and a rocky terrain.
Sharon captioned it: ‘OK NOW I really did finish it. Done: Mother Earth.’
She added: ‘I’d like to thank @iconic.london make-up brushes. I used them on this painting.’
One day prior, Sharon shared the progress of her painting as she worked on it, with the first image what it looked like.
She wrote: ‘Giving large scale watercolors a try. 1. 2/28 I worked on it some more. I think it’s better now. 2. 2/27.’
