Visual artist to unveil artwork which ‘showcases’ stories

Jumoke Muritala, a visual artist specialising in face art, explores identity, cultural storytelling and community engagement through her artwork.

Jumoke, who is a member of the British Arts Network and a Global Arts in Medicine Fellow, is inviting everyone to the Fragments of West Yorkshire, a poetry and art event taking place on Wednesday, September 24, from 3pm to 6pm at City Library, Bradford.

She said: “Fragments of West Yorkshire is set to be another powerful moment of cultural expression, showcasing the stories, heritage and narratives that shape this region.

“With a vibrant line-up of artists and poets, the event seeks to give voice to stories that have not always received the recognition they deserve.

“This initiative directly addresses the need for spaces that celebrate diversity, challenge stereotypes and promote cultural unity.

“At a time when our region is striving to build stronger connections across communities, this project offers inspiration, reflection, and celebration through the creative lens of art and poetry.”

Jumoke will unveil five pieces of artwork on the day and 10 poets will recite written work to amplify the art.
