An art gallery is opening in a historic building at the heart of North Walsham.

Wherry Arts and Crafts will officially launch in Market Place on Thursday.

It can be found in the town’s historic Market Place (Image: Wherry Art & Crafts) Visitors can expect to find everything from pottery, woodwork and homeware to jewellery, paintings and needlework on display across two floors.

The creations are handmade by local talents, meaning they are all completely unique.

The premises is packed full of creations by local talents (Image: Wherry Art & Crafts) The gallery’s founder, Wendy Rendall, said she did not truly explore her own creative streak until she relocated from Camberley in Surrey to East Ruston.

The beautiful north Norfolk landscape is partially what inspired her to start painting rocks during the pandemic and she still incorporates natural materials like wood into her work wherever possible.

Everything from paintings and jewellery to homeware is on display (Image: Wherry Art & Crafts) She was introduced to the local art scene when another shop owner asked to showcase her items and she is now excited to give others the same opportunities.

Ms Rendall has honoured the character of the 17th-century premises throughout the revamp and has filled it with a variety of mix-and-match furniture pieces to give it a homely feel.
