CINCINNATI (Cincinnati Business Courier) – Cincinnati connoisseurs of visual arts have recognized the name “Manifest” since 2004. To some it was a respected gallery on Woodburn Avenue in East Walnut Hills. To others it was a drawing studio offering classes and training, housed in a series of six locations over 18 years. This year the split personality is coming into singular focus as the Manifest Center for the Visual Arts is established in a historic building in the foothills of Clifton.
Manifest is an artist-founded, community-supported nonprofit arts organization. It was created to support the visual arts by offering meaningful art-based experiences for the public through accessible, museum-quality exhibitions and by promoting deep learning outside academia. Its studio programs and publications support visual literacy, critical thinking and skill development.
“We’ve always been both – gallery and studio,” said artist Jason Franz, Manifest’s co-founder, “because the synergy between the two is remarkable. One plus one doesn’t equal two. One plus one equals 30!” Manifest’s new home will be a place with numerous facets and possibilities, a place where art is studied, made professionally and exhibited.
