Alec and Hilaria Baldwin‘s fans got a closer look at their home in Amagansett, New York, recently, but a controversial painting the couple keep in their living room left users fuming on social media this weekend.
The 67-year-old actor and his 41-year-old wife were featured showing off their home near the Hamptons in the New York Times late last month, but Alec reminded his followers of a divisive painting of Hilaria when he reposted highlights from the photo profile to Instagram on Sunday.
The couple prominently display a lifelike triptych showing Hilaria bagging up some fruit in a grocery store while wearing sunglasses and standing in front of shelves filled with seemingly endless boxes of Rice-A-Roni.
While speaking to the time, Hilaria said, ‘I have to admit that I’m extraordinarily embarrassed that there is a gigantic painting of me in this room. It’s like, “Welcome to my living room. Here is a painting of me.”’
Commenters on Alec’s post definitely felt secondhand embarrassment for Hilaria and Alec, and they didn’t hold back in savaging the painting, which was made by the artist Brendan O’Connell and was said to be inspired by a paparazzi photo of the yoga instructor shopping in a West Village bodega near her and Alec’s main home in New York City.
‘This is multi-faceted rage bait,’ wrote one commenter who couldn’t handle the taste-challenging painting.

After Alec reposted photos from the New York Times of their home, including a painting of Hilaria shopping that was inspired by a paparazzi photo (pictured), fans took to the comments to blast her for keeping the painting, which she called ’embarrassing’
Numerous posters mocked Hilaria for keeping the painting of herself despite claiming that it ’embarrassed’ her.
‘”I’m so embarrassed about this painting that I choose to hang it up in my house” 🤔???’ wrote one user who didn’t buy her story.
‘She can’t be too embarrassed with the picture bc she hung it up,’ added another poster.
‘So extraordinarily embarrassed that she kept the painting up for the article,’ echoed another user.
One fan suggested that Hilaria should ‘take it down’ if the painting was ‘so embarrassing.’
‘Easy . . . get rid of it,’ agreed another poster.
Some commenters even suggested that keeping the painting up betrayed narcissistic tendencies.
‘Only a narcissist would have their pic in there living room. Who wants to see that!!! 😂 [sic],’ read one of the comments.

Fans took to the comments to blast both the painting and Hilaria, with one person describing it as ‘multi-faceted rage bait’

Some commenters were adamant that they wanted to know as little as possible about the details of Alec and Hilaria’s home and personal life.
‘No No…no no no,’ one person wrote, while another commented, ‘Nobody asked for this 😩.’
Others poked fun at Hilaria’s past habit of speaking with an exaggerated Spanish accent.
‘*Heavy accent* How do you say, “I care not” in English?’ one person joked, referencing an episode in which Hilaria acted as if she had forgotten the word ‘cucumber,’ before saying it in an exaggerated pronunciation as if it was a foreign word to her.
Although her family reportedly spoke Spanish often at home and would visit Spain on annual trips, Hilaria was born in Boston and spent most of her life living in the United States. Her parents later moved to the Spanish island of Mallorca in 2011, a year before she and the Hunt For Red October actor tied the knot.
One fan joked about preferring Alec when he was in funnyman mode.
‘I will only engage with 30 Rock Alec Baldwin,’ they wrote.
But not everyone in the comments found the painting tasteless. Several users complemented the Baldwins’ home in general, and one brave soul wrote, ‘I like the painting.’

Hilaria and Alec were proudly showing off their home after they decided to hold on to it.
The Departed actor bought the home near the Hamptons in 1996, but he listed it in 2022 for $29 million, a massive increase after he originally paid only $1.75 million for it.
The decision to part with the home came in the wake of a deadly shooting in 2021, in which he shot and killed the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured the director Joel Souza on the set of his Western film Rust, which he was starring in and producing.
Baldwin denied ever pulling the trigger on the prop gun, which he said he was told had no live ammunition in it.
Baldwin was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in January 2023, which he pleaded not guilty to, but the charges were dropped in April of that year.
However, he was again charged in January 2024 on an involuntary manslaughter charge.
The case was dismissed with prejudice by the judge, meaning it can not be refiled, in July 2024 after it was revealed that the prosecution had withheld evidence from Baldwin’s attorney that could have potentially been used in his defense.
In July of this year, Baldwin’s lawsuit against prosecutors in New Mexico for ‘malicious’ prosecution was thrown out after he failed to file additional documents for months.
Amid his legal struggles, Baldwin was unable to sell the Amagansett home, and he and Hilaria have recently decided to hold on to it.
