Tired of living in a sea of clutter in your bathroom but don’t want to pay a fortune for a plastic, clunky organizer? A quick raid of Dollar Tree’s craft aisle might be the solution. While there’s a bit of effort involved, the end result is truly worth it.
In the crafting aisle, shoppers will find a variety of blank-slate wooden supplies. Those box crates and wood slats are all you need to create a stunning caddy that looks aesthetically pleasing and is actually useful. DIYer Liz Fenwick perfectly demonstrated how—and people were instantly obsessed.
The process couldn’t have been more simple.
How to Make a DIY Bathroom Caddy
First, she gathered her supplies: six wooden crates and two long wooden slats. Using wood glue, she paired off the crates and allowed them to dry. Next, she secured the crate pairs to the slats, leaving space between each “shelf” to make it easy to add products. Then she used a gel stain to give the wood a rich, dark finish.
She chose to use the caddy for small, lightweight makeup items, and it added instant organization to her countertop.

Ways to Personalize Your DIY Caddy
Gel stain isn’t the only way to decorate it. You could paint it a vibrant color for a fun pop, stencil on florals, or even decoupage ornate napkins for a more elegant finish. Add vinyl stickers, bedazzling gems—whatever suits your vibe. The sky’s the limit when it comes to personalization.
And while it’s perfect for bathroom storage, you could also use it in the kitchen as a coffee caddy or in a craft room to organize art supplies. With a simple and affordable DIY like this, you really can’t go wrong.
