MANITOWOC – Rahr-West Art Museum is set to host its 51st Art of Tablesettings exhibit, featuring more than 40 innovative tablescapes inspired by visual art.

This year’s exhibit, running Oct. 3 to Nov. 2, includes a special challenge to honor the museum’s 75th anniversary. Designers were tasked with creating a setting for Paul Jenkins’ “Phenomena: Saturn Ascent,” the widest painting in the museum’s collection at more than 13 feet, according to a community announcement.

A silent auction and free programming round out the Rahr-West’s 51st Art of Tablesettings exhibit, open Oct. 3–Nov. 2.

Special challenge for designers

Typically, designers have only 6 feet to work with, making this a unique opportunity. Four designers accepted the challenge, offering varied interpretations of Jenkins’ piece.

The exhibit will also feature related programming. Dolly Stokes, a longtime museum supporter, will share her personal history with the museum at 2 p.m. Oct. 16. A drop-in tour with Curator Diana Bolander and select designers is scheduled for 2 p.m. Oct. 22.

Silent auction to raise funds

A silent auction of tableware and décor will run Oct. 3-26 to raise money for future exhibitions.

The exhibit and programming are free and open to the public. More information is available at rahrwestartmuseum.org.
