“Mentors + Apprentices: Work from the 2025 Craft Apprentice Program” opens Friday, Oct. 3, at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts and runs through Oct. 29. This is the 10th annual Capstone Exhibition from the Maine Crafts Association apprentice program and is in partnership with in partnership with the Maine Arts Commission and the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen.
The exhibition celebrates the culmination of a seven month journey of growth, creativity and learning between mentor craft artists and apprentices from Maine and New Hampshire. The scope of the 2025 apprenticeship cycle spanned natural dyeing and hand weaving, wood firing, handbuilt and wheel thrown ceramics, rug hooking, glassblowing, and blacksmithing.
The 2025 mentor and apprentice pairs are:
• Diana Arcadipone with apprentice Cordelia Perry (Maine, paper).
• George Brace with apprentice Patricia Brace (Maine, blacksmithing).
• Grace Collette with apprentice Kaileigh Sargent (New Hampshire, fiber).
• Jody Johnstone with apprentice Krystal Yavicoli (Maine, ceramics).
• Linda Perrin with apprentice Erin Bobo (Maine, glass).
• Martha Grover with apprentice Sophie List (Maine, ceramics).
• Pam Bartlett with apprentice Lynda Hadlock (New Hampshire, fiber).
• Sarah Haskell with apprentice Amanda Pearson (Maine, fiber).
The exhibition’s opening reception is from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, Barkan Gallery, 103 Cochran Road, Edgecomb. It is free and open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists, learn about their creative processes and browse completed pieces on display.
The Barkan Gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to noon and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and by appointment for the duration of the exhibition.
