A German museum has been swarmed by Taylor Swift fans due to a painting that closely resembles the opening scene of her chart-topping music video, The Fate of Ophelia.
The visitors included numerous American families stationed at a U.S. Army base in Wiesbaden.
Swifties are flocking to see an Art Nouveau painting by Friedrich Heyser depicting Ophelia, Hamlet’s beloved from Shakespeare’s play Hamlet.
In the original story, Ophelia, a young Danish noblewoman, descends into madness and tragically drowns.
Friedrich Heyser’s oil-on-canvas artwork portrays Ophelia dressed in white, encircled by white water lilies.
While the precise creation date is unknown, experts estimate it was painted around 1900.
In the opening shot of The Fate of Ophelia, Swift slips into the role of Ophelia and becomes a living painting.
Despite the eerie resemblance, the museum in the city of Wiesbaden said it does not know for sure if the artwork served as a template for Swift’s song, which is currently a number one hit both in Germany and the U.S.
Taylor Swift last week while appearing on GMA, revealed a six-episode docuseries of her record-breaking Eras Tour, which is to premiere on Disney+ this winter.
Besides this, for The End of An Era documentary, Swift has also announced an updated Eras Tour concert film, The Final Show, more than a week following the release of her album, The Life of a Show Girl.
