Last week, organisers announced it would be held in Robert’s Park, Saltaire, at 5.30pm on Friday as part of Bradford’s City of Culture celebrations.
They have now confirmed a second showing of Painting the Sky at the park at 5.30pm on Thursday.
A spokesperson for Bradford 2025 said the additional event had been announced due to “exceptional demand” and also in light of the current poor weather forecast for Friday.
If conditions allow, Friday’s event will also go ahead as scheduled.
Painting the Sky will see works from across Mr Hockney’s career recreated above us by more than 600 choreographed illuminated drones – from his vibrant Californian pool scenes to his bright landscape paintings of the Yorkshire countryside.
Having embraced the latest digital technology for many years, this is the first time the artist’s works will be presented using drones.
Mr Hockney was born in Bradford in 1937 and attended Bradford Grammar School before studying at Bradford School of Art from 1953 to 1957.
