LITTLE ROCK, AR (KATV) — Get ready to deck the halls with handmade treasures as the Arkansas Craft Guild gears up for its 47th annual Christmas showcase at the State Fairgrounds from Dec. 5-7.
Show coordinator Aaron, fiber artist Lee Abernathy, and potter Virginia Healy are excited to share the magic of crafting with visitors.
The event promises a dazzling array of unique items, including wood cutting boards, Kingman turquoise and silver jewelry, blown glass ornaments, and consumables like candles, jellies, and honey.
“All the artisans that you meet there are the person who made the items,” said Lee Abernathy. “It’s all very special products, future heirlooms, is what we’d like to say.”
Virginia Healy, a hand builder, will showcase her pottery, Cray Ma, which means “good clay” in Gaelic.
With 65 artists participating, the showcase offers plenty of opportunities to find one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. “Holiday gifts are best… if they’re a handmade gift,” said Abernathy.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early for the best selection, but vendors will have ample stock throughout the weekend.
In a delightful twist, Lee Abernathy demonstrated the art of spinning wool into yarn, sharing a bit of crafting history and magic with attendees.
“It’s like magic,” said Abernathy, as she transformed fiber into yarn.
Don’t miss this chance to support local artisans and find the perfect handmade gift this holiday season!
