LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Louisville Visual Arts hosted its LVA Honors Gala at the Mellwood Art Center on Friday.
Hosted by WAVE anchor Dawne Gee, the night celebrated community members who have made an outstanding achievement in Louisville’s arts, culture and leadership.
Four award winners were organized for winners, including an art educator, an emerging artist, another for an artist who has a community impact, and a legacy award for an artist’s lifetime of work.
“The art community is an important source of joy and also very important to healthy, thriving individuals and communities, whether it’s art education for students, artists contributing to local economy, or art in neighborhoods, like murals or sculptural elements that help create a sense of community and belonging,” said Louisville Visual Arts Executive Director Angela Hagan.
Starting in April, the LVA will have four different art shows, which include art from JCPS elementary, middle and high school fine art classes.
