TRYON—The Tryon Arts & Crafts School, located at 373 Harmon Field Rd., will welcome the community for its Open House Mixer and soft opening of the TACS Instructor Showcase on Friday, May 15, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The free public event, described by TACS Director Will Barclift as a “friendraiser,” will celebrate the community’s artistic spirit with activities held both indoors and outdoors. Live music will be provided by Burnett Sisters Band, known for harmonies rooted in bluegrass and folk traditions.

Guests will be able to participate in hands-on craft projects in the Youth Art Corner and watch demonstrations by professional artisans. Demonstrations are expected to include blacksmithing, pottery, woodworking, and weaving, along with the Empty Bowls Pro Potters Throwdown.

“Celebrate the start of the spring season with our special Open House,” Barclift said. “Come for the craft, stay for the music, and leave with a sense of community.”

The event will also feature access to the TACS artisan retail shop and the Instructors’ Gallery Showcase, highlighting the work of faculty members, including Jimmi Buell and Susan McDade.

A raffle will offer prizes including North Carolina lottery tickets, craft class enrollments and TACS memberships.

Food and drinks will be available from the TACS Grill, along with regional beers and wines from Biltmore Winery.
