The talents of local high school students will be on display in a juried exhibition at the Wellington County Museum and Archives opening later this month.
“Students, families, teachers, and members of the public are invited to attend and celebrate the accomplishments of these emerging artists,” said a news release from the Elora Fergus Arts Council.
The Emerging Insights exhibition represents a collaboration between the arts council, regional high school art departments, and the museum. It features the work of Upper Grand District School Board visual arts students from Guelph, and Dufferin and Wellington Counties.
The annual show, now in its second year, “celebrates the creativity, imagination, and technical skill of young artists while giving many students the opportunity to exhibit their work in a professional gallery setting for the first time,” the release said.
Local artists Phil Irish and Eric Montgomery juried the show, selecting works representing a range of media, styles and perspectives, it said.
An opening reception, featuring music, refreshments and an awards presentation, will take place on Thursday, May 28 from 7 to 9 p.m.
The exhibition will remain on display until Sept. 30.
