The main session of the “Sofia” Graphic Workshop, which for the 17th time brings together the most talented young graphic artists from Macedonia and Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, takes place from August 20 to 27, and will end on August 28 with an exhibition of the works made by the participating students in the House of Culture “Brand Petrushev” in Bogdanci.
This unique international workshop is the only one of its kind in the country and the region and represents one of the most significant cultural events for graphic art in the Balkans.
At the opening of the event, on August 20, two important memoranda of cooperation were signed. The first one, with Teatar Komedija from Skopje, envisages the participants of the workshop to make a poster for the next play that is planned, which is an excellent opportunity for young artists to show their talent in practical application.
The second memorandum was signed with the House of Culture in Bogdanci, which opens up new opportunities for cultural cooperation and artistic projects at the local level. The director of the Comedy Theater, Darko Jan Spasov, announced the competition among the participants for making a poster for the theater, emphasizing the importance of this creative opportunity.
The director of the House of Culture “Brand Petrushev”, Branko Saplamaev, expressed his satisfaction with the officialization of this cooperation and added that he hopes that they will offer quality cultural content for the residents of Bogdanci and surrounding settlements.
– It is a special honor for me to be part of such a project that enables creativity and exchange of experiences between young artists from the region. The workshop not only encourages creativity, but also opens the doors to new opportunities – said the mentor from Croatia, Iva Čurić.
The president of the “Sofia” Bogdanci graphic workshop association, Viktor Semenpeev, added: “I am really glad that new collaborations are opening, opportunities for new research and networking.” He expressed gratitude for the support from the Municipality of Bogdanci, the Ministry of Culture and Printing House “Sofia”, which for 17 years has been behind this important project for all young artists, for the culture in Macedonia and for the cultural branding of Bogdanci.
The “Sofia” graphic workshop continues to be an important cultural event that brings together young artists from the region, offering them a unique opportunity to learn, collaborate and create in all classic graphic techniques.
The workshop not only maintains the tradition of graphic expression, but also actively promotes graphics as a specific and very powerful artistic expression. With a fund of over 900 graphic sheets in several copies, this workshop is a real treasure for all art lovers.
