There will be an open house at the Jamestown Arts Center to highlight its upcoming programs for the autumn season from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20.
Alex Tsocanos, the interim education director, said it’s an opportunity for families to explore the studios, meet the instructors and make art.
“As a parent, Jamestowner and arts educator, it’s one of my favorite afternoons,” he said.
“Whether you’re at the JAC every week or haven’t even been in, the open house is a good excuse to come see what’s happening,” added Christine Cocca, the center’s executive director.
Drop-in activities will be led throughout the building by artists Lisa Barsumian, Rosemary Burns, Brooke Erin Goldstein and Casey Weibust. That will include collages, monotype printmaking with water-based material, line drawings, spin art on the pottery wheels and clay medallions. There also will be age-appropriate crafts for toddlers and seasonal refreshments.
All activities are free. Visitors also will have the opportunity to register for classes, including ceramics, printmaking, drawing, 3-D modeling, painting and writing, which begin Monday Oct. 21.
Fall art classes for adults, teens, and kids begin Oct. 21 and include printmaking, ceramics, drawing, 3D modeling, painting, writing, and more. Scholarships are available for students of all ages.
