The world of letterpress and printing is coming to Newtown next month.
The Shropshire Branch of the British Printing Society will host a Wayzgoose event at Hafan Yr Afon in Back Lane on Saturday, 13 April.
Ian Lewis of the society said: “What is a Wayzgoose? I hear you ask; it is nowadays a celebration of print and in particular letterpress printing, which is undertaken by enthusiasts from across the United Kingdom who all share a love of this fascinating heritage craft and are committed to keeping the skills alive.
“Join us to celebrate all things letterpress and printmaking, explore numerous tables selling a wide range of letterpress equipment, type and ornaments, old printing blocks, printed items, lino cutting tools and hopefully some secondhand
printing books.”
He added: “If you are new to the world of letterpress and printmaking and want to learn more you will be able to try your hand at the Shropshire Branch of the BPS table, setting up type and letterpress printing.”
The Wayzgoose is at Hafan Yr Afon, Newtown, Powys SY16 2NH on Saturday 13th April 2024, 10am until 4pm.
Already confirmed to be at the Newtown Wayzgoose are Jeremy Winkworth Letterpress equipment, Nick Gills Effra Press and Type Foundry, Hawthorn Printmaking Supplies, Sarah Amatt (Suminagashi and marbling papers), James Brown (Linocut Artist), Kate Dean Printhouse, Michelle Gordon of MagicLetterpress, Aberystwyth Printmakers, Gini Wade (Lithographer), Alan Brignull of The Rambling Urchin Press, Jean Watson Letterpress Printer, Owen Legg Woodcraft Press, David Armes Red Plate Press, Dawn Hollis Crail Press, Graham Moss Incline Press, Liz Toole (Printmaker) and Deborah & Adrian Hillyer of Ross Letterpress.
