With Monday night’s thrilling 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7, the Florida Panthers earned their first Stanley Cup, and 2018 Penn College graphic design grad Austin Fulton earned an accompanying championship ring.
Fulton, creative manager for the Panthers, began his work with the NHL team shortly after graduation. Hired as a graphic designer, he was later promoted to creative manager, overseeing and maintaining the team’s brand. In addition to this year’s Stanley Cup-related marketing and design work, the creative team designed the Panthers’ 30th anniversary specialty jersey.
“It’s a surreal feeling right now! I can’t find the right words to describe it, but it’s just pure excitement in the office and all across South Florida! I’ve still been trying to reply to all the messages that my friends from Florida and Pennsylvania have been sending me,” Fulton said. “When I joined the Panthers back in 2018, I dreamed of being a part of a moment like this. I’ve been so fortunate to work on a variety of creative projects over the years, and I’ve worked with some amazing people along the way. There were some long days and nights, but it was all worth it in the end. Now, I can proudly say that I was a part of a championship run. It feels so good to finally be on top of the hockey world. We’re Stanley Cup Champions!”
Fulton is the second Penn College graduate in two years to work for the Stanley Cup winner. Frank Tuason ’20 is a stage manager for the Las Vegas Golden Knights, the 2023 champs. Tuason completed bachelor’s degrees in business administration: sport & event management and business administration: marketing.
