The exhibition opened at the Stables Studio in Gourock last weekend with sales hitting £1,000 on Saturday and Sunday.

The standard of work is excellent, as it always is, with a focus on variety and a range of subjects using different materials.

Club member Erin Donnelly said: “The first weekend went really well, with more visitors on the Sunday than Saturday.

“We have sold just about £1,000 of paintings and crafts.

“We are really proud of all that is on offer this year, we have such a wide variety of artists on show spanning different styles and genres.

“There are still lots of beautiful works to be seen.

“We would like to encourage everyone to come along and view the work of these talented local artists.

“There is something for everyone. A beautiful display of colour to fill your weekend.”


Member William Laing, speaking before the show, said: “We have at least a hundred exhibits. We have loads of crafts and prints.

“We have paintings using different materials oils, acrylic and watercolour, some charcoal drawings, and a wide range of subjects including landscapes and smaller original abstracts.

William who took up painting in his 50s, said that he is really enjoying his new passion and being a part of the club.

He said: “I absolutely love it, it’s opened up a new avenue in my life.

“You get a lot of support and encouragement, I’ve learned so much since I started at the club.

“There are so many talented artists who are happy to pass on their knowledge and experience to new members.

“We would also like to foster a younger membership.”

(Image: George Munro) William, who has four pieces of artwork on show, including a stunning Clint Eastwood painting, in the sale, added: “There’s something for everyone.”

There is also a range of unique crafts including dandelion clocks displays, greeting cards, vases and knitted items.

Club secretary Arlene O’Donnell said: “I think it’s brilliant. it’s lovely to see everyone’s work coming in and the exhibition coming together.

“It’s good to see such a variety of work.”

He said: “It’s a great place to learn. You are made to feel very welcome and encouraged.

I’ve really come on since I’ve joined the club.

“This exhibition is as good as I’ve seen it.”

The exhibition runs on Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22, between 11am and 4pm.
