The 36th Annual Hilo Christmas Extravaganza Craft Fair kicks off today.
The popular holiday craft fair is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Edith Kanaka‘ole Multi-Purpose Stadium.
This Big Island tradition brings together over 100 talented vendors from Hawaii Island, Maui, Oahu, California and Washington, offering a festive marketplace filled with handmade gifts, ‘ono food, door prizes and lots of holiday cheer.
According to a press release, what makes the Hilo Christmas Extravaganza truly special is its commitment to handmade, small-batch craftsmanship. As one of the only all-handmade Christmas craft fairs in the state, the event provides a vital venue for local artisans and small business owners to showcase their creativity and hard work.
“Supporting small businesses is more important than ever,” owner and organizer Kim Sasaki said on the press release. “When you buy from a local maker instead of a big box store, you’re not just giving a meaningful, personalized gift — you’re helping a small business afford to stay open, keeping our community thriving in a challenging economy.”
This year’s fair features many returning favorites as well as exciting new artists and crafters who have joined the Extravaganza ‘ohana — including Hiro’s Cookies, Maui Chili Chili Oil, Lehua‘ala Creations and Kaulua‘e Hawaii, to name a few.
Attendees can look forward to lots of door prize giveaways, delicious local food and plenty of festive cheer while shopping for unique, handmade holiday treasures.
Admission is $3 at the door (cash only); keiki 12 and under free.
Come shop local, eat local, and celebrate the season with the Hilo Christmas Extravaganza — where the heart of handmade meets the magic of the holidays.
