The sessions are the result of a partnership between the Durham Cricket Foundation and the REfUSE Café in Chester-le-Street.

They will take place on March 17, 24, and 31 from 1.30pm to 3pm at the REfUSE Café on Front Street.

Angela Sheridan, community inclusion officer at Durham Cricket Foundation, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing our crafts programme to the high street and to a venue that so many people in Chester-le-Street already know and love.

“REfUSE Café shares our belief in building community, and its ethos of recycling aligns perfectly with how we run our glass painting sessions.

“We are especially grateful to Pinesway Glass Ltd, whose donations of recycled materials make this possible.

“These sessions are open to everyone so please come along, have a go, and meet some brilliant people.”

The partnership is designed to support community wellbeing and make creativity more accessible to all.

The sessions are suitable for everyone, whether they are experienced crafters or trying something new.

All materials are provided and no prior experience is necessary.

The REfUSE Café operates on a “pay as you feel” basis and serves meals using surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.

The Foundation’s craft programme has been running for more than five years, offering activities including embroidery, crochet, knitting, and glass painting.

These sessions are designed to help people learn new skills, build confidence, and form social connections.

With the addition of the Chester-le-Street sessions, the Foundation now runs five regular craft sessions.

Pinesway Glass Ltd has donated recycled glass for the classes, allowing participants to give new life to reclaimed materials.
