MATEWAN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Pauline Sturgill and April White, owners of Old Mountain Field Fine Arts, Crafts and Collectables, invite the community to attend an Open House and Ribbon Cutting at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, following Matewan Heritage Days downtown. They have been working with the West Virginia Hive – entrepreneurial program of the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority – to position their business for continued success.
Located at 100 Bridge Street, Matewan, W.Va., Old Mountain Field offers fine art and crafts from artists in West Virginia and Kentucky. Sturgill and White are both artists who showcase their work in the shop, and they currently represent more than 50 artists and craftspeople.
To mark the occasion, the owners are offering customers 20 percent off select items, 40 percent off stained glass, as well as door prizes and drawings throughout the afternoon.
White is a textile artist and Sturgill is a painter. The pair wanted to showcase their work alongside other regional arts and crafts. The location of the business in the Matewan Depot is especially meaningful, as both owners are proud of Matewan’s rich heritage, including the West Virginia Mine Wars and Hatfield-McCoy feud.
