Graphic Communication Design at the Royal Danish Academy supports students in developing graphic design practices that focus on addressing social challenges.

The Master’s programme Graphic Communication Design explores the transformative role of visual communication by investigating aesthetic qualities, critical dimensions and practical applications.

The course focuses on complex design projects, academic inquiries, artistic research and students develop their own agendas. They gain a nuanced understanding of how graphic communication design can address societal challenges and be applied in novel ways.

Graphic Communication Design is a two-year Master’s programme at the Royal Danish Academy, Scandinavia’s leading academy within architecture and design.

Students will be the driving force in the progression, direction and specialisation of their own education. In other words, what you bring to the table is essential and will determine the unique characteristics of your professional profile.

In the fourth semester, students focus solely on a larger self-initiated and self-directed project within areas of individual specialisation. Each year, graduating students have the opportunity to exhibit their work and meet potential employers.

What will I learn during this course?

– Deepen and expand competencies in disciplines like editorial design, visual identity, type design, interaction design, data visualisation, image making and illustration.

– Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in design or a similar relevant discipline from an accredited university or design school
