MUMBAI: Noted Indian-American artist Noureen Sultana presented her painting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a reception organized by the Indian Consulate in New York last month.The event, held at the Lotte New York Palace, was part of Modi’s official visit to the United States.
The painting, titled “India and USA Friendship” symbolizes the growing relationship between the two nations under Modi’s leadership, said a press statement.
The artwork features a peacock, India’s national bird which represents beauty and pride. The painting also uses earthy brown colours to symbolize Modi’s Virgo zodiac sign, along with sapphire blue, the color of September which symbolizes wisdom, and green to symbolize wisdom and environmental harmony.
Speaking about the India-US relationship, Noureen said:”In the Modi era, the bond between India and the United States has strengthened like never before.” She added:”The friendship between both nations is cultural and people-driven, and my painting reflects that unity.”
Modi expressed his appreciation for Noureen’s work, praising her efforts to promote peace and harmony through art.
Noureen, who promotes interfaith harmony through her art, also shared her personal thoughts on Modi’s global leadership. “Prime Minister Modi has been a strong advocate for India on the world stage, and his vision has brought both countries together in ways that benefit the global community,” she said.
The artist who credits her parents and husband Waheed Khan for their support, added, “I am proud to have created a piece that celebrates this partnership. Under Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has gained tremendous respect worldwide, and that includes a stronger and more vibrant connection with the US.”
