The long-awaited return of the American Sand Sculpting Championship to Fort Myers Beach is nearing as the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce will present the event at the DiamondHeadBeach Resort Nov. 21-24.
It’s been five years since the island hosted the event. The last time the championship was held was in 2019 at the Wyndham Garden Inn – which was destroyed by Hurricane Ian. The covid pandemic and then Hurricane Ian delayed the event’s return.
The nation’s top master and advanced amateur sand sculptors will descend on the DiamondHead Beach Resort to partake in the highly-anticipated
sand sculpting championship.
“Fort Myers Beach is a special piece of paradise,” Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce President Jacki Liszak said. “It’s a seven-mile island lined with beautiful sugar sand beaches, perfect for making intricate, giant sandcastles. We are super excited about the response we are receiving from both the sculptor and spectator communities. We have master and advanced amateur sculptors signed up and ready to compete! The return of this beloved signature event to Fort Myers Beach is a testament to the resiliency and perseverance of this small island community. Even after the challenges posed by Hurricane Ian, Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, the community is rising stronger and eagerly anticipates welcoming back its most devoted fans. Join us this November as we celebrate together and create magical artworks and lasting memories! See you on the sand,” Liszak said.
