“In this increasingly divided world, I am drawn to the subtle beauty of being connected. The way colour, form, and emotion intertwine with one another. Sometimes they blend harmoniously; sometimes they clash. Yet they are always inseparable.”
With these words, Hong Kong singer-actress Stephy Tang introduced her second solo art exhibition, “Ever Near”, held from May 14 to 17 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre as part of the 13th edition of the Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong.
Speaking to DotDotNews, Tang said painting and acting constantly inspire one another. “They are deeply connected and influence each other,” she said, explaining that painting helps her enter the emotional space required for acting, while her acting experience also fuels her artistic creation.

Tang described herself as “a visual person,” saying she always begins with an image in mind — whether she is singing, acting or painting. “When I paint, I think about the meaning behind the image. When I act, I imagine the picture behind the character,” she said.
Explaining the exhibition theme “Ever Near”, Tang said many people, emotions and moments exist quietly around us, though they often go unnoticed. That idea is reflected in her paintings, which feature elements from nature such as trees and sparrows, as well as invisible energies that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
Tang also revealed that several friends, including Sammi Cheng, had been invited to attend the exhibition, adding that her boyfriend would also stop by after work to show his support.

For this exhibition, Tang puts 15 paintings up for public sale, and all proceeds will be donated to the HK Cancer Fund for charity. This puts into practice her belief that “art originates from love and sharing, and gives back to society.”
She said, “This decision stems from my understanding of the essence of art: art is giving—sharing energy, sincerity, and love. If a work can bring comfort or help build connections for others beyond the gallery, then that is the most moving meaning of Ever Near.”

The 13th Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong will be held from May 14 to 17 at the HK Convention and Exhibition Centre, featuring 106 participating exhibitors for a four-day gathering of contemporary creativity.
This year’s theme is “See Art. Love Art. Own Art.” Visitors are invited to explore and collect original works, with prices starting from HK$1,000. All artworks are original or limited editions, carefully selected by professional galleries that understand the art market and the value of creation. The fair aims to attract both seasoned collectors and first-time buyers alike.
