Two days and two nights with 25 musical artists, 10 art installations and special programming in the MIRA DOME that make up more than 25 hours of content exploring different formats that define the festival such as audiovisual shows, live music performances, installations, 360º projections and DJ sessions. A multi-sensory experience that extends its sphere of influence beyond the Montjuic Fair with 6 parallel events spread throughout Barcelona that invite the public to discover the avant-garde in the confluence between contemporary music and digital art.
Barcelona’s benchmark festival in digital arts also announces the bulk of its digital programme, offering two world premieres: Photons , by Barcelona multimedia art studio Eyesberg , a light sculpture in which two LED screens face each other creating a space where light dialogues with itself, challenging the viewer’s spatial perception; and ECHO , the installation by creative studio specialising in videomapping and interactive experiences VPM , presented in collaboration with Cultura Inquieta , a light and sound installation that explores how light and sound can resonate and amplify in space, inviting viewers to experiment between the visible and the audible in real time.
IED Barcelona Centro Superior de Diseño will also be present at the festival as a result of the collaboration between both entities through two artistic installations that explore the intersection between art, technology and human experience. On the one hand, Distorted Reality is an immersive work that, thanks to the use of innovative techniques such as triangular mapping and point cloud animations, delves into the complex relationship between the natural world and digital perception. Brief Encounters, on the other hand, offers a poetic exploration of the ephemerality of human relationships based on air traffic patterns.
Maxime Houot, a member of the artistic collective Collectif Coin, will present at MIRA 2024 as a Spanish premiere his striking installation MA, a work that, through a light and mechanical choreography, transforms the space into a unique sensorial experience, launching a reflection on the perception and construction of our reality through visual and auditory stimuli.
Also this year, Penique Productions and Oscar Zabala join forces to present ALTAR, an immersive installation that creates a club within the festival, ALTAR, which combines Penique Productions’ iconic translucent structures with Zabala’s generative audiovisual creations. The result is an environment that evolves throughout the day from a more ambient atmosphere to a full club experience with its own programming. Artists KARCELEN, Ben Kaczor and Lb Honne, along with Oscar Zabala himself, will perform live and DJ sets, exploring genres such as ambient, deep and minimal house.
Voll-Damm, the festival’s main sponsor, will add a playful touch with its Double or Nothing experience by artists Raquel Meyers + Niklas Strom. Meyers, known for her work with ‘obsolete’ technologies such as the Commodore 64 and teletext, immerses us in a pixelated universe full of nostalgia that takes as its setting the MIRA and the Montjuïc Fair. In collaboration with Niklas Ström, Meyers has created this interactive game that celebrates that universal moment of any festival: grabbing a beer at the bar and trying to get a good seat at a concert, without dressing up.
To close the programme, we find emerging and consolidated proposals from the local creative fabric such as LOWKEYMOVES , the Barcelona creative studio that comes to MIRA 2024 with Órbita, an innovative extended reality video booth. This installation will allow attendees to immerse themselves in 3D environments and create personalised 360° videos in real time. Meanwhile, Marc Vilanova will present at MIRA 2024 his installation Cascade, a unique sensory experience that takes us into the invisible world of infrasound, the sounds that waterfalls produce and which are essential for the orientation of many migratory birds; while the project by Silvia Sánchez & The Spyglass presents a proposal that celebrates the imperfections and beauty in female diversity in Evolution from Imperfection: art, virtual reality and neuroscience through seven paintings with virtual reality technology.
Finally, Xavi Bové Studio presents Lunar Oscillations . The studio, renowned for signing unique audiovisual experiences, explores in this work the relationship between human beings and the cosmos through a kinetic installation that recreates a universe of stars and moons in constant movement, inspired by the effects of the moon on the Earth.
MIRA Dome by BlendBCN – Immersive films, the special programme of the festival’s iconic symbol
As always, the MIRA Dome will offer immersive experiences with 360º projections, this time with BlendBCN, a new international event that will bring together industry leaders and emerging talents on Friday 8 November at Fira Montjuïc. With keynotes from the likes of GucciGhost, Misan Harriman and Reeps 100, cutting-edge art installations and transformative workshops, BlendBCN will be the perfect place to get inspired and connect with other creatives. The event creates synergies with MIRA thanks to the curation of the immersive audiovisual proposal of MIRA Dome 2024: first, with Defasten + SØS Gunver Ryberg presenting MIRRORED MADNESS, in which an ecosystem of cybernetic organisms unfolds before the viewer’s eyes creating a new and hypnotic digital bioarchitecture; and second with Desilence & Suzanne Ciani presenting THE RHYTHM OF THE OCEAN , a tribute to the ocean exploring its duality between beauty and mystery, as well as its important role as a catalyst for life.
MIRA WEEK, the festival takes over Barcelona
Beyond the festival itself, which will take place on 8 and 9 November at Fira Montjuïc, its programme will be extended to other venues in the city, creating MIRA WEEK from 4 to 10 November.
Monday 4 November (3 to 5 pm): Nad Spiro presents Canteras Soundwalking
The artist Nad Spiro proposes a unique experience: a sound walk through the old quarries of Montjuïc to the rhythm of her album Pedreres . Equipped with headphones, participants will discover unknown corners of the mountain on a route specially designed for the occasion, guided by the musical pieces and narrations of Mike Ibáñez.
Tuesday 5 November (20h to 21h): The 5th edition of .MOV at Ideal Barcelona

Four screenings will be premiered in this edition: Alba G. Corral will present Bernat Pescaire , Martina Ampuero will present ZØNE , Hamill Industries & Desert will present Deliri and Oscar Zabala will present Nocturno.
Wednesday 6 November: Penique Productions presents Arcs del Quarter (19h to 21h) and Salvadiscos takeover (19h to 00h)
Penique Productions, curated by MIRA, invites to an artistic experience that seeks interaction with the spectator and launches a powerful reflection on the passage of time and life thanks to the interaction between the inflatable material, Penique’s artistic hallmark, and the architecture of the space, the barracks of the Castell de Montjuïc. Available to visit until 6 January 2025. For its part, the cultural association Salvadiscos is joining the programme by offering a line-up of local artists who will create the perfect soundtrack to warm up for the festival.
Thursday 7 November (20h to 22h): Bicep presents CHROMAVISION at Sala Phenomena
The duo of producers and DJs, Bicep, present their new short film, CHROMAVISION, with which they expand the creative universe of their new multi-purpose concept, CHROMA. It is their new AV/DJ show that they will take to MIRA 2024 and with which they show off their most experimental side. The short film is directed by the visual artist and stage manager of the artists, Zak Norman and the creative consultancy of David Rudnick, and will be presented exclusively in Barcelona with the presence of the Bicep themselves at the Phenomena.
Sunday 10 November (20h-21:30h): A*Desk presents Architecture of Friendship at La [2] de Apolo
To close the festival, the project A*LIVE introduces Architecture of Friendship with a choral cast of artists and disciplines, as a metaphor for its message. With the collaboration of composer Santiago Latorre, multimedia artist Colin Self, singer Nieves Arilla, and performer Atabey Mamasita, the show delves into the creation of a safe space to share experiences, support each other and grow together.
The countdown has begun for the celebration of the festival that comes to Fira Montjuïc on 8 and 9 November. Artists of the stature of Bicep, Kim Gordon, Lorenzo Senni, μ-Ziq, AG Cook, Snow Strippers and Toccororo headline an already complete musical line-up, which adds Robin Fox, the outstanding Australian audiovisual artist whose works are characterised by the use of laser synchronised with sound and visual electricity in a hyper-amplified 3D space, creating a striking proposal that relies on the immersive power of light.
In addition to the whole musical proposal with more than 25 artists spread over two days, it has also been announced that two Barcelona studios will accompany the artists on the bill by signing the visuals for their shows at MIRA: Eyesberg will be the studio in charge of designing the visuals for the DJ sets of Toccororo and Craig Richards, and Massó will do the same for the British Murder Boys.
